Acoprovi launches “Building RD” to strengthen Dominican construction workforce
Santo Domingo.- The Dominican Association of Builders and Housing Developers (Acoprovi) unveiled Construyendo RD, a platform designed to address the growing demand for skilled labor in the Dominican Republic’s construction sector. The initiative aims to professionalize the local workforce, creating decent employment opportunities and strengthening the industry’s competitiveness.
The platform connects workers with job opportunities and offers access to educational financing, including scholarships and incentives, to democratize technical training. Acoprovi President Annerys Meléndez emphasized its role in supporting the Dominicanization of the construction workforce, ensuring that more Dominicans are equipped with the skills needed to sustain the industry’s growth.
The launch event, attended by President Luis Abinader and other government and private sector leaders, included a panel on local employability challenges and strategies. Key topics included labor formalization, social security, and dual education—a training model integrating theory and practice to meet market demands. Acoprovi also presented its Nationalization Plan, highlighting initiatives like a “first job program” and job boards to support new professionals entering the sector.
Good luck with that!
