Mustapha Raji

Liberia Football Association (LFA) President, Mustapha I. Raji, has retained his seat on the Executive Committee (EXCO) of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) following his reelection.

Raji was reelected unopposed on March 12, 2025, at CAF’s 14th Extraordinary General Assembly held in Cairo, Egypt. He will serve the position for the next four years (2025-2029).

The LFA president was first elected to the post in 2021, when he became the third Liberian to be elected as CAF Exco member after Marcel Bartin and Musa Bility.

Wednesday’s assembly also saw the re-election of CAF president Patrice Motsepe, who was re-elected unopposed for a second term. Motsepe, the visionary at CAF, has been widely praised for stabilizing CAF’s finances and enhancing its global profile.

Five others were elected unopposed alongside Raji.

Four-time African best Samuel Eto’o joined the CAF leadership, while Bestine Kazadi Ditabala (Democratic Republic of Congo), Wallace Karia (Tanzania), Kurt Simeon-Okraku (Ghana) and Sadi Walid (Algeria) are new to the committee.

Feizal Sidat (Mozambique) and Samir Sobha of Mauritius were the other two members voted in to represent Southern Africa.

There was also a vote to decide the six African representatives on the Fifa Council, with Hany Abo Rida of Egypt and Fouzi Lekjaa of Morocco retaining their places.

Kanizat Ibrahim (Comoros), Hamidou Djibrilla Hima (Niger), Ahmed Yahya (Mauritania) and Souleymane Waberi (Djibouti) were elected for the first time.

The Liberia Football Association (LFA) congratulates its President, Mr. Mustapha I. Raji, on his re-election as an Executive Committee Member of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) at the ongoing 14th Extraordinary General Assembly in Cairo, Egypt.

His re-election underscores his influential role in African football governance and highlights the trust and respect he holds within the football community.

His leadership on the continent has been characterized by a clear vision that aligns with the goals of FIFA President Gianni Infantino and CAF President Patrice Motsepe to develop football at all levels and make the sport truly global.

The LFA remains proud of Raji's achievements and looks forward to his continued leadership and contributions to African and global football,” the LFA posted on its official social media handle.

Raji will now turn his attention to the LFA election, expected to take place in April 2026, where he will be seeking his third and final term as president of the FA. Having been re-elected unopposed for his second term as LFA president, Raji may not enjoy the same advantage in 2026, as he could face potential challengers, including ex-convict and CEO of FC Fassell, Cassell Anthony Kouh, and Senator Momo Cyrus, CEO of second-division club Wologisi FC, both of whom have declared their intentions to contest for the post.
